The Koreans Almost Got Me – MySuit NY Review
I’m short and fairly small guy – so most clothes don’t fit!
I’ve been looking for some new suits and saw a bunch of commercials for this company MySuit NY owned by a large Korean clothing company.
The prices seemed reasonable for a custom tailored suit, so I went to check it out. I almost bought one…but got lucky and checked the reviews right before I went! This sounds like one that should be avoided.
(P.S. If you know of any good, reasonably priced tailors in the city or abroad let me know!)
Update 2/29/12 - I recently came across Black Lapel tailors here in New York. I highly recommend it, I ordered my first suit a few months back and love it and recently ordered my 3rd. Definitely made for younger, slim men. They take extreme pride in their work.
Sounds to me like you just shit all over My Suit without ever shopping there, or knowing anyone who has ever shopped there. Impressive!
Scott,
Here’s the thing: it’s a big purchase decision right. I went to the store, talked to te employees, researched reviews, and drew upon my past experience. I wish there were some trial offer or “shareware” I could sample before buying. However in this case, it’s a binary decision: buy or not buy.
Based on the evidence I collected, it’s hard to support the purchase decision and if it doesn’t work, there is a big cash downside. Looking at my risk, it seems to suggest staying away. If they had some great special for first time buyers, then I might take a shot!
Adam
Adam,
I usually love your posts but I have to agree with Scott on this one. While you may have made the right decision for yourself, these guys don’t seem like they deserve your negative coverage, especially when it looks like you’re basing it on a handful of Yelp reviews.
Anyway, you’re definitely right about great deals on custom suits in Asia. I have friends who swear by the tailor shops in Hoi An, Vietnam.
Tony
Tony I’ll definitely have to check out Hoi An in Vietnam. A number of friends have recommended the place, I’m told its the place to get things made.
Hi Adam – What’s the name/details of the place you use in Bangkok? Thanks!
@Steve
The place is really the best, its Rajas Fashions. Their address:
Shop No. 1/6 Sukhumvit Soi Nana 4, Opposite Nana Hotel
Bangkok-10110 Thailand
Phone:+66 02-2538279
I hear everyone from the US Embassy uses this place. One day I was in there, some guy from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce came in about Raja’s sponsoring an event for them.
At last check custom shirts were about $36 each and suits ranged from about $275-350. If you’re in Bangkok and have time, its well worth. The gentlemen Bobby who works there is amazing. I got a suit made there years ago and its still held up quite well.
Let me know if you end up getting something done, I’d be curious how it turns out.

Hey Adam – I wanted to look into Black Lapel, but their site is under construction. Where are they located? What are their prices like? Thanks!
-Jeremy
Hey Jeremy,
They are located here in Manhattan and I know their website is in progress and hopefully will be up soon. I’ve gotten to know one of the owners and he’s extremely passionate about suits. I can have him get in touch with you for more details. I’m headed tomorrow to pick up my 2nd suit and very excited about it.
Adam
Hi Adam,
According to your comment and some recommendation on tripadvisor, I had found Tony in Viet Nam and made suits for my boy friend and dress for me. I met a lady and a girl who gave me good advise for my clothes. When finishing all clothes, We were satisfied because all items were fitted my body perfectly. Quality is also good – reasonable price.
I kept their name card and I will recommend some friend to come there.
Their address is 294 Nguyen Duy Hieu str – Hoi An – Viet Nam.

Alan glad it worked out for you. I’ve been to some tailors in Thailand, India, and China so next time I’ll have to check out Hoi An
Reviews are typically made based upon one’s experiences…This article draws not from this, but solely from your ‘intuition’…I’d have to say that this is not only useless, but arrogant…It is this type of attitude that is unhelpful and completely unneeded…You didn’t make a purchase or use their services, after all…Let’s leave the comments to the authentic patrons of this establishment…
