Nice review, Adam. Planning on purchasing from these guys this year. Just a heads up, you're wearing a peak lapel, not a notch as you mentioned above. As far as I can tell from the vid anyway, though the lighting is a little dark.

Hi Adam,

Did a Google search for Black Lapel and came across your review. Great looking suit! A couple of questions regarding the suit you're wearing in your review. Which fit did you select? Black Lapel offers "tailored" and "slim" fits. Also, did you select a regular notch or slim notch lapel. Thanks!

Drew,
Thanks for the comments. Here's the thing: I've had custom suits made in Bombay, Bangkok, and China. Problem came to be, their typical customer is a larger more fully fitted guy. So even though I gave instructions for the suit I wanted, they all came without the exact fit I desired. Conclusion: decent but certainly not a success.

Now, New York City. Depending on the manufacturer, I'm either a 36S or 37S. Have you ever looked on the rack at the selection of 36/37S? There are generally about 2 suits if you're lucky. In those two suits, I rarely if ever find exactly what I'm looking in terms of fabric, number of buttons, vents, lining color or lapel thickness. I've been from the botique Suit Supply in Soho down to discounters like Century 21. Its extremely frustrating running around the city, looking everywhere and never finding what suit fits, is priced right, and has the style I like.

So you ask why do I like Black Lapel. A) they are young guys and understand what I want B) They suits fit beyond belief C) Their pricing is reasonble for a custom made suit.

The average price for a Black Lapel suit is $450-600 for custom made vs. $700+ at Bloomingdales & Saks and I still don't get exactly what I want.

If you're seriously telling me you've traveled all over the world and could not find a suit that fits you as a small, slim guy, that completely undermines any credibility you have as a reviewer. Heck, you apparently live in New York City - properly fitted suits are available off the rack at hosts of different retailers, including Saks, Bloomingdales, Barneys and tons of different independent and designer boutiques. And if you had to scrimp and save, Daffy's and Century 21 get in Italian closeouts that fit slim body-types perfectly. There is no reason anyone out there needs to be paying those prices for a 'custom-made' suit - those who do simply have not been properly educated in fashion and where to shop. I hope they at least paid you well for your 2.5 minute video.
